Sam Mensah 's Profile

DR. SAM MENSAH is a Financial Economist and Investment Banking Consultant. During 1996-2004, he served as Executive Secretary of the African Capital Markets Forum, an African regional think-tank on capital market development. In Canada, Dr. Mensah acquired several years of progressive experience in financial management with Aetna Canada. He was subsequently employed as a Senior Policy Analyst with the Department of Finance and Treasury Board of Canada for five years, before switching to an academic career. He has several of years of
academic experience with the University of Toronto and the University of Michigan where he was Assistant Professor of Finance.He has researched and published extensively in major publications such as the Journal of Futures Markets, Financial Review and Public Finance Quarterly on a variety of corporate finance and capital market issues and served as editor of African Emerging Markets: Contemporary Issues, Vol.1 (2002) and Vol 2 (2004). He has consulted extensively on financial sector reform and capital market issues including serving as an advisor to the Bank of Ghana and Ministry of Finance on Domestic Debt Management. He was the Team Leader in the preparation of Ghana’s Financial Sector Strategic Plan (2003-8) which is now under implementation. Internationally, Dr. Mensah has participated in financial sector capacity-building projects in Southern and Eastern Africa. Dr. Mensah holds the degrees of M.A, in Political Science (McMaster University), M.A. in Economics (University of Ottawa) M.B.A. and PhD in Finance (University of Toronto) and is a Certified Management Accountant (Society of Management Accountants of Canada).
